Universal Pictures subsidiary Illumination has rendered its global blockbuster, Minions 2: The rise of Gru, on the Kuulea's partner Qarnot's infrastructure. 16,000 cores have been running for four months for the production of the second installment of The Minions.

Bruno Mahé, Head of Technology at Illumination Mac Guff, said: "We were seduced by the efficiency and expertise of Qarnot, which allowed us to use our rendering engine on nearly 16,000 computing cores for four months for a major production".

Beyond the technical challenge taken up by the teams -16,000 cores have been installed in three weeks -the production of Minions 2 stands out for its reduced environmental footprint thanks to Qarnot technology.

The heat released by the computers dedicated to this collaboration could heat the equivalent of an average French household for 715 years, or the entire city of Paris for 4 hours and 8 minutes.r, Minions 2: The rise of Gru, on the Qarnot infrastructure. 16,000 cores have been running for four months for the product
